Twitter and Drivers: We tweet them.... when they tweet back we go "OH MY GOD LOOK!" and do a happy dance

So this is a random blog and a personal opinion blog. This blog is about what it means to have drivers on twitter, but what it also means to get a tweet from one. I know i have had that experience happen and it's the best feeling in the world.... now here's a good question that i have wondered for a long time... Why Do We Hope To Get Tweets From Drivers???? Is it for the awesome feeling that we feel like they are connecting with fans? Is it bragging rights? Or is it just the fact that a tweet from someone that important is the coolest thing on twitter? I am going to give my opinion on what i think.... :) here we go!

So when Twitter came around it was cool... then it became the coolest thing since sliced bread. It's a great place to meet fellow NASCAR tweeps and get involved on all the best NASCAR news. Also you can follow your favorite driver if they have a twitter. THATS A BIG DEAL. :) You can follow JJ, KK, $$, DR, DH, and many more. Some of the wives and girlfriends of NASCAR drivers also have twitters to follow as well. Now the question we have been waiting to get to is why do we love it when a driver tweets us or why do we hope to get a tweet from them. Time for my story.... even if you heard about it... here we go :)

I got a twitter and followed my favorite driver Scott Speed and his wife Amanda. I also followed a variety of other drivers as well too! On my birthday I asked if i could get a RT (Re-tweet) for my birthday. During the day i turned on my phone i saw that Amanda had tweeted me a happy birthday. I thought that was super awesome and nice. Then after dinner in the late evening i was driving home and checked my twitter and there it was: the tweet from Scott wishing me a happy birthday! I literally was bubbly the entire night and glowing. Another moment was when i was talking about prom and one of my awesome tweeps tweeted Scott to take me to prom. I found the joke so cute and funny... then Scott RT it with saying that his wife approved! I nearly died laughing. Scott also RT me on tuesday saying thanks for me wearing my "Speed For Hire" shirt and getting compliments at Starbucks...

Why did i just tell you all those stories? It proved that i was starstruck and also i appreciated feeling the interaction with my favorite driver. My feeling is that we hope to get a tweet from a driver because it means a lot to us. There are no glory points, no in your face crap, it's a cool thing. We feel as though we are interacting with the drivers personally. For some of us who haven't been to or race or even met our driver it means the entire world to feel as though they are talking to you. It also proves that they look through their tweets and pay attention to what is going on in the twitter world.

Honestly i believe that drivers want to tweet fans to show they interact. It's an awesome thing and I am glad that many of them tweet. :) This is a super short blog believe it or not... but i just wanted to say my thoughts on the whole driver tweeting a fan. :) Thanks for reading this blog and enjoy the race at Brickyard today! PS HAVE A STARBUCKS TODAY! :D

Inventing Shadows...Won't Back Down...Scott Speed

Well time for another blog! woo hoo! :D this is a personal/exciting blog so brace yourself! it's not going to be too long. So let's get started shall we? Also at the end of the article I will be putting credit for everything I use and also this is MY opinion... so no bashing please :). Here we go!! Did you hear about Scott Speed? Do you know who Scott Speed is? Well let me sum up last year at this year....

He was apart of Red Bull Racing last season and drove the #82 toyota. Brian Vickers had blood clots and had to end his season early so it was Scott who raced. Kasey Kahne was to join the team for the 2011 racing season and then move on to Hendricks. Scott was told by RBR that he would no longer be working for them in 2011. He had been terminated. Scott also sued RBR for 6.5 million dollars.........he was out of a racing career for many months when the termination happened...Also another event happened after Scott was notified of his termination.. the tweet below expresses what happened.

scottspeed "On 11/24. As it happened RedBull sent me a Termination Letter, not huge surprise, and @mamaspeed41 was diagnosed w/ Lung Cancer, BIG surprise"

That tweet showed that it seemed like their was no shining light for the Speeds. After that, Scott showed off his infamous "Speed for Hire" shirts and got the fans involved and kept moving on and being the tough cookie that he is. Then some very exciting news showed up on twitter and Scott's wife Amanda tweeted about it......

Amanda_Speed "Well I guess @scottspeed put the word out... Yes, I am pregnant!!!! We r very excited!!!!!"

This news was exciting for all fans and for the Speeds. We all could see the light breaking through and knew that it was going to get better for Scott and his family. He had a NNS ride with KHI in late august so we could only wait for that. Then he got the chance to race in the Indy 500... but his car wrecked and was unable too. One day though more bad news came out and i was notified of some of this news and i saw a tweet from Scott.....his mom had passed away from lung cancer.

scottspeed "Hardest night of my life. I love my family more than anything in the world."

Honestly I was majorly bummed out for Scott and his family. Even with a baby on the way... they still were looking for NASCAR chances. then this past monday we got the most exciting news ever... here is the article from Scott's website.

MAXQ MOTORSPORTS & SCOTT TEAM UP STARTING AT INDY

CHARLOTTE, NC (June 25, 2011) – Max Q Motorsports has signed Scott Speed to drive the No. 37 Ford Fusion. The team will start running Speed this weekend in Indianapolis, at the 18th annual Brickyard 400.
The 28-year-old former Formula One driver Scott Speed, who drove for Red Bull Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series the last two years, will make his first start since 2010. Speed has 76 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts, with one top-five and three top-10s, eight top-10s in 13 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and one win, four top-fives and nine top-10s in 16 starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
“I am excited to get back to the track,” said Speed. “Max Q Motorsports seem to have a good operation and a great group of guys working on the 37. Ford has a great engine package so I’m hopeful that we can get the ball rolling quickly and be competitive out the gate.”
The team will be running Speed in a Ford Fusion with the FR9 Roush Yates engines. The duo plans to run at the next three races – Indy, Pocono and Watkins Glen with hopes of continuing the rest of the 2011 season pending sponsorship.
“We are excited to have Scott Speed join us,” said Larry Gunselman, Max Q Motorsports owner. “He has shown great talent in a small period of time in stock cars and with the right operation I think things can really take off. We will start by focusing on qualifying and go from there.”
“Scott has an amazing marketing personality,” said team officials. “We hope to find a great sponsor who can utilize him and the team to make a name for themselves in NASCAR.”
The No. 37 car sits 39th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Owner points, so Speed will have to qualify on time this weekend at Indy.

That is the official article that says Scott will race for this weekend (Indy), Pocono and the next race. It was super exciting news and this was the light that all Scott Speed fans were waiting for. Scott had to qualify this morning to be able to race tomorrow and he made it in....
Amanda_Speed "We r in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Lord!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go @scottspeed!!!!!!!!!! And the 37 guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This was another great bit of news. The reason why i wrote this article was to prove that Scott Speed never stopped. He was always looking into rides and into the future. I am so happy to see Scott back in a cup ride and only hope for the best in these next couple races. I believe this is the light that everyone has been waiting for. I only hope the best for Scott and Amanda and cannot wait for the race tomorrow! :D
Also we also know how funny Scott and Amanda are on twitter... these two tweets show it... and trust me you will not be disappointed if you follow them! They are two awesome people! Scott acts like a kid and that's what makes his personality so dang awesome! :D

Thanks to all who read these articles... it means a lot! :D Also all the links for the article... how to tweet amanda and scott and picture credit will be posted at the end! NO COPYRIGHT INTENDED! :D Also this is a personal blog so this is my view on all this! :D thanks again for reading!

Well I won't back down No I won't back down You can stand me up at the gates of Hell But I won't back down--Kahne/Speed Personal Blog/RBR

Made this! Works well!
So this is my first major personal blog, as in this blog is written about how I feel. I am not here to offend anyone.. i am not here to make anyone upset.. i am not here to bash drivers or teams. This blog is strictly for me to express some things i have i noticed over this past year. I hope you all understand this and enjoy this blog as I know I was debating if I was really going to post it or not. Here we go.............

What a great song by Tom Petty, "I wont back down". I found this song to fit these two drivers extremely well. Scott Speed is never backing down by finding new rides and also just staying himself. Kasey Kahne is not backing down even when things are tough and not working in his favor. When I observe these two drivers I see that they mirror each other in very unique ways. I plan to explain what both of them have... and then to tie them together to explain what i mean.
Love the Smile!!

Amanda and Scott Speed
Let's start with Scott Speed shall we? He began racing at a young age and ended up competing in Formula 1. Red Bull picked him up and he raced to his best ability, he eventually raced in the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series for a little time then moved to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Red Bull Racing welcomed Scott with open arms and he joined and learned about NASCAR. He was never a top 5 contender, a chase contender, but he did have a few top 10's and his wild, but amazing personality balanced him out well. Last year many fans heard his contract was terminated and he would be done with RBR at the end of the season. I was personally shocked with what happened, I knew that Kasey Kahne was coming for a year and Brian Vickers was out last year with blood clots. A dream for a three car team never happened and Scott's time with RBR came to an end. Many $$ fans were fired up about it and didn't think this could happen. I was just dazed by the entire event, but then hearing the news of KHI in august made me believe that this will help him get back in the racing action. He also had a chance to compete in Indy... but his car did get ruined and he was unable to. Basically that has been the shorter version of what happened to former RBR athlete. He also is expecting a baby girl with his wife, Amanda Speed. If you want more information on Scott follow him on twitter.. he is a riot.

Love his shirt! Mustache-Castache! :) LOL
Tweeting while on Radio!
Now that was a long paragraph no? Let's talk about Kasey Kahne now. Born in Washington, Kasey began racing at a young age. He moved mountains and made a statement and soon was in NASCAR Sprint Cup. He won the fan vote for the all-star race and won the race. He raced for RPM for a long time... last year was his last year before he would go to RBR for a year then onto Hendricks. Long story short was that Kasey had a rough season and after a race he was released from RPM and he moved in at RBR and raced in the #83 for the rest of the season. Scott and Kasey became good friends and so did Brian and Kasey. This year Kasey races the #4 for RBR and has had some top 5's, and top 10's and 20's. He also has had some extremely tough races. He won in trucks at Darlington and has come very close to winning some other races. This weekend he raced in the #7 for JR Motorsports in NASCAR Nationwide Series. Kasey Kahne is a great driver.. he has a lot to offer and after this season he will head to Hendricks to continue his racing career.

I need to own this!
Now how many of you who read my blog are asking "Laura why are you telling us information about these drivers?" well the answer is simple... I want you to see what happened last year and then i can expand on how they relate to one another and at the same time how they are still unique. Also this is going to be a pretty long blog so keep on reading cause it is not over yet..............we are now going to talk about fan support for these two drivers! =:D

The fan base is incredible for Kasey Kahne. Fans love him and support till the end! It's crazy how many fans say wonderful things! :) Kasey Kahne has a good fan base and he carries himself very well! As for Scott Speed he has a great fan base even if there are not as many fans as some drivers. All the fans of either of these drivers and dedicated and loyal to their driver no matter what. NASCAR FANS RULE!
Did i make anyone hungry? Sorry! =:D

What makes these two drivers alike?? Well they are both racing or have raced for RBR and have been in "Sticky Situations"(hence the cinnamon roll picture). Last year Scott seemed to have a tough car and many fans believe he had a bad car and if he had a better one he could of won more. As for Kasey it was the same story at RPM last year.. then he moved in to RBR this year and has had a few races that have been hard and just not good. I AM NOT BASHING RPM OR RBR... i am just fascinated by what has happened this year with KK and what happened last season with $$.

As for next year, well Kasey will be at Hendricks and we only hope the best for him and hope he can get some wins.. even this season with RBR we are hoping to see that win (it's coming soon! :D). Scott will race in August with KHI in NNS and who knows we may see him doing something with racing next season! Fans can only hope for the best for their drivers and just keep on cheering them on in the good and bad! I would also like to say that KK and $$ both tweet.. Scott tweets about his life and his wife and himself and is extremely funny. KK tweets about his teams, himself and other stuff! So if you want to follow either of them.. i'll link them at the bottom!
Tweeting or Texting? :P

Well Scott Speed and Kasey Kahne are two totally different drivers.. but they have both been with RBR. Regardless of a win or loss, they both have prevailed and are doing or have done their best! I only wish them the best luck and know they will keep on pushing forward! So... now that i am done rambling what did you all think of this blog? This was a personal blog.. as in my opinion and view on what I see. I am not trying to get anyone mad at me or get anyone saying i am a bad person. I am only expressing what i saw and it just fascinated me and i thought I should blog about it! I hope this didn't bore anyone to tears and I hope you all still like this blog! =:D

Happy Doughnuts? Yes! :D For good news!
Some side news: I reached 1,010 views of all time on my blog today and I was super happy! Thank you to all that follow this blog, read this blog and share it! It means the world to me to see that people enjoy my style of writing! I hope to continue to blog more and keep you all entertained! Red Bull Racing Guys work as one at Daytona...Kahne&Vickers showing what they have

Well i feel as though it is time for a new blog. I know it's been a week since the night race at Daytona happened, but i feel like blogging about it anyway! Is everyone ready? Okay here we go!!! So as you all know we went back to race at Daytona in the evening... after Trevor Bayne winning the Daytona 500 in the start of the season anyone could walk away victorious. If you have read my previous blog it talked about that very winner.. yes.. David Ragan. His win was a great moment for many fans and it was well worth the watch. Now let's talk about RBR and how Kasey Kahne & Brian Vickers worked together as much as they could that night.

At Daytona you want to have a "Dancing Partner" or so they say. Someone you can get in front of or behind.. and use them to help make moves. Many common partners paired up and the two Red Bull toyota's paired up at the very beginning of the race. I had a feeling they would stick it out to the end.. which they did until Brian got caught up in a wreck and Kasey was left without a partner. Overall the entire race they stayed teamed up and lead many laps. Red Bull had great strategy and worked and pushed to the very last minute.

Now why in the world am i talking about RBR? I mean come on after the Scott Speed events that happened last year.. i didn't even know if i was going to still love RBR. I do.. love brian, kasey and cole. I talk about them because this just shows the fact that  RBR is working had to make the cars work to the best ability that they can. Brian and Kasey are also working very hard to make the best finishes they can at each track they race at.

I did not ask for fan opinion on this one. The reason was because i wanted to talk about what i see in RBR and what makes them a possible chase contender group. They have the cars and drivers to get into the chase.. each race i watch them improve as much as they can. I know sometimes the races go and RBR walks out with a top 20.. but we have been getting some top 5's and top 10's.

Brian Vickers and Kasey Kahne are showing them what they have to offer. Even with only one year for Kahne, he still wants to win and bring home some victories for RBR. Vickers came back after having last season not work out due to blood clots. This team is working very hard each and every race to do their absolute best. I honestly have no idea if RBR will be around next season, or what is going on but i do know i will support the drivers no matter what.

Also in this blog i want to express that Scott Speed will always be number 1 to me, Kasey and Brian are 2&3. It is who i am and even if Kasey is better than Scott.. Speed will always remain number 1 to me. Scott will race for KHI in august and I am very excited for that! So this blog is now over too! This was a personal/analysis blog for me. I hope I did not bore you all to tears. I also hope everyone enjoy's tonight's race!

NOTE: I am sorry for any spelling errors. I just wanted to blog and this came to me and i decided to write it out and share it with all of you. I am currently working on a random blog and also a blog about tonight's race once it is over! =:D

Night Racing at it's finest: David Ragan Wins at Daytona

Well i am back and blogging! Sorry for being away so long.. i think i just didn't have the feel to blog and now after yesterday's great race.. i can blog! So who all was expecting last nights outcome? All i can say is that i was shocked when it ended. The race blew by and i was going "wow" at the end. I am going to briefly describe the race.. but then we are going to talk about the winner.. yes people.. David Ragan. So here we go!!!!

The race was at Daytona last night, it was 160 laps of dance partners and pure strategy. Many drivers paired up with teammates and did well. Brian Vickers and Kasey Kahne both paired up  and lead laps and stayed up front all night. Matt Kenseth and David Ragan also paired up many times, same for Joey Logano and Kyle Busch. A few cautions came out... many for spins and others... Trevor Bayne was unlucky and spun early in the race and the car could not be repaired. Overall the race was intense and left everyone on the edge until the checkered flag flew down.

We really had no idea who was going to win this race, it honestly could be anyone. Many people thought the red bull cars would pull away, others thought hendrick cars would win it too. Well, when a "big one" happened.. many drivers were left without their original dancing partners. Kasey and Joey paired up at the end... and many others did the same. David Ragan was up front.. and when we had 3 laps.. he ran them hard... even with a huge wreck forming. Ragan got his first cup victory last night and twitter and the crowds were booming with cheer and congrats.

I asked some fans on twitter what they thought of  David's win and these are the responses i got:

Lindsey_Lou_4 said: "Well deserved. He drove a flawless, unselfish race and this will not be Ragan's last win, restrictor plate track or not!"

Short_Court24 said: "i thought it was about time! he let one go at daytona in feb. and this was a long awaited well deserved win!:)"

ilovehamlin11 said: "I was soooo excited! My family has been cheering him on all season hoping he would win and im so glad he finally got it done today! Im super proud of him(:"

But most of all.. one fan.. who is a diehard DR fan.. told me this
Jordie6RFR said: "David Ragan winning was a dream come true. I lost my grandmother December 25, 2010. She was a Ragan fan. She wanted him to...win so much, to see how happy it would make me. I know, up in Heaven, she was watching down on him today, and she can see thejoy in my eyes tonight. I'll forever believe that she helped push that 6 to Victory Lane."

All these comments are nice and oh so true. This was a well deserved win for the #6 team. Even Jordan who talked about her grandma just showed the reason to never give up on the underdogs. I know that all of us were cheering David to win and when he did we were overjoyed. Seeing the fan base so strong at this time was just incredible.

I hope to see David pull off more victories and hope this race gave him the incredible boost of confidence that he needed and deserved. He raced his way to victory lane and earned the trophy well last night.

Well that is all for this blog... i know it's not the most in-depth and long blog, but it serves it's purpose. We are on to our next race and also I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Stay cool and enjoy the fireworks and awesome weather!
